Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the charge nurse is responsible for supervising nursing staff members who provide direct resident care, communicating with all health care providers and partners, coordinating and implementing nursing care as ordered by the physician and agreed to by the resident- and documenting those timely, accurately and comprehensively. Is responsible for the provision of nursing services within the scope of his/her license and in compliance with current standards of practice and corporate and facility policies/ procedures. following the plan of care, and insuring the overall health and wellbeing of the resident.
Current, active Iowa Nursing license, experience in long term care with knowledge and understanding of Federal and State nursing facility rules and regulations, including licensing, OSHA, CDC, and Public Safety. If licensed as an LPN, the Iowa Board of Nursing requires completion of a Board-approved course in Supervision within 6 months of working in Charge/Supervisory capacity. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills specific to the English language.
