Heritage Care and Rehabilitation has been a respected and established part of Mason City's health care continuum since 1973 when ABCM Corporation purchased the former 40 bed William-Charles Heritage Home. Heritage Care and Rehabilitation has enjoyed stability of ownership since that time and stability of management since 1975. Mason City is an exceptional regional healthcare hub, with many outstanding healthcare professionals and acute care facilities. At Heritage Care and Rehabilitation , our 80 staff members pride ourselves in provision of care in which kindness and respect are paramount.

Since 1973 Heritage Care and Rehabilitation has undergone two additions, several renovations, and conversions of three neighborhoods to serve specific care needs. One of these conversions is our Regency Wing of 14 beds, with many carpeted private rooms, private dining room, whirlpool and beautiful lounge.

A licensed, secured Alzheimer's wing of 15 beds occupies our northwest wing. This unit is staffed by team members who have an interest in caring for special needs residents and who receive ongoing specialized training in assisting residents with dementing illnesses. Care is delivered in an environment designed to reduce distractions and anxiety, promoting a feeling of comfort for the residents. The Alzheimer's wing contains a dining/activity room, living room for visitors, sunny patio and large enclosed front yard.

A 10-bed Short Term Rehabilitation wing opened in January of 2006 to serve the rehabilitation and social needs of those who anticipate needing care for two months or less. These clients may be younger residents or seniors who anticipate being able to return home or to assisted living after receiving therapy or nursing care in our facility. This unit contains a beautiful whirlpool/shower room, elegant private dining and living areas, patio, and a kitchenette/therapy room to allow individuals to practice activities of daily living in anticipation of a successful return to home. Cable TV and phone are complementary in this unit.

Although an increasing number of our residents are able to return home within a few months of admission, we continue to serve a number of very important residents for whom Heritage Care and Rehabilitation is "home." This is the focus of our two 24-bed long term care wings. Optimal health, quality of life and individualized, resident-centered care are our goal and vision, made real every day by dedicated staff members who are both advocates and friends to our residents. Excellent meals which cater to personal preferences, a fully-equipped physical therapy room, and therapeutic whirlpool bath/shower room are available. Our clients also enjoy daytime, evening and weekend recreational programs in our activities lounge, equipped with large screen cable TV, books, games, crafts and digital piano. The facility has several resident birds and welcomes visits from pets as well as people!
