Internet Explorer Versions & Identification
Internet Explorer Versions can be identified by the icon that displays at the far left of the title bar of the window when Internet Explorer (IE) is opened.

Internet Explorer versions 6 and earlier can be identified by this icon where Internet Explorer 7 can be identified by this icon . Specifically you should note the ring color around the 'E'. Internet Explorer 6 and earlier will have a blue ring around the 'E', where as Internet Explorer 7 has a gold ring.
If you are currently running Internet Explorer 6 and or earlier and would like to upgrade you can obtain the download from the Microsoft Website. If you need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact the ABCM Help Desk (1-8770495-6219) for assistance.

Address Bar
The 'address bar' is located at the top of the Internet Explorer window regardless of the version you are currently running.

Typing in the website address or URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of websites or pages that you visit will also decrease the amount of time required to reach desired websites or webpages.

**NOTE**
The IT Department is now using a new system to allow us to remote into your systems in order to provide assistance to you. As long as you have an internet connection we should now be able to provide assistance to you. In order to accomplish this we will need you to enter a specific address, this will be given to you when you contact the ABCM Help Desk (1-877-495-6219), into the address bar of Internet Explorer.

Tabbed Browsing
With the release of Internet Explorer 7 also came the introduction of 'Tabbed Browsing' to Internet Explorer. You will notice that among other changes there are the addition of 'Tabs' at the top of the Internet Explorer window.

Tabs will allow you to view more than one website or webpage within one window. This should ultimately benefit you as you will no longer need to have multiple windows open in order to accomplish this. In order to open a new 'tab' in you window you only need to click on this blank tab to open a new one.

Bookmarking & Favorites
In addition to typing web addresses (URL's) into the address bar you can also 'Bookmark' websites and webpages. You can do this a few different ways.

  1. Bookmark Hotkey:
The first and quickest way to bookmark is to use the hotkey combination for bookmarking. You can press the hotkey on your keyboard for bookmarking when you have the website or webpage open that you would like to bookmark. The hotkey for bookmarking is ctrl + d as displayed on the virtual keyboard below.

  2. Right Clicking:
You can also right click in a blank area of any webpage which will display a 'pop-up' menu that will resemble:

You can then 'bookmark' a page by clicking on the 'Add to Favorites' button.

  3. Click the Add to Favorites Icon:
You can also bookmark a website or webpage by clicking on the 'Add to Favorites' icon at the top of the Internet Explorer 7 browser window. This will open a menu allowing you to click on the 'Add to Favorites' button.
