Oakwood Care Center is a skilled nursing facility certified in Medicare and Medicaid. Oakwood is very proud of the short-term rehabilitation services it offers. You can receive rehabilitation services and return to your home. Almost 100% of those who come to Oakwood utilize our short-term rehabilitation service then go home.

Life at Oakwood Care Center
Located in beautiful Clear Lake, Iowa, our home and activities maintain a lake theme. In 1965 Oakwood was known as Ritter's Oakwood Manor and was owned and operated by Roger and Marilyn Ritter. In December of 1973, ABCM Corporation purchased Oakwood Manor and changed the name to Oakwood Care Center.
In addition to providing long-term care services, Oakwood partners with experienced licensed therapists for those who need physical, occupational and speech therapy. Oakwood also offers an Outpatient Therapy Center within the facility for those needing therapy services while living in their homes. Life is different at Oakwood because of Person Directed Care and Consistent Staffing. Person Directed Care is a philosophy we practice to offer residents more choices in their day-to-day living. Residents make the decision as to when to get up, eat, bathe, go to bed, and attend activities. State-of-the-art whirlpool spas feature flat screen TV's, DVD players, towel warmers and lights that dim to offer a pleasant spa-like bathing experience for residents. Person Directed Care is practiced throughout the Oakwood facility from the dietary department that prepares favorite resident meals, to the Administrator Advisory Board. Our award winning activity department provides exciting and stimulating activities which include Lady of the Lake Cruises, casino trips, drives to see the leaves, visits to local restaurants and museums.
Consistent staffing, another aspect of Person Directed Care, ensures that residents are cared for by the same caregiver at least 85% of the time. This continuity of care ensures that residents feel safe and more secure as they receive care. Caregivers are able to recognize changes in the resident. Residents and caregivers develop very important and meaningful relationships.

A soft serve ice cream machine, a fountain pop dispenser and popcorn machine are now located in the Cobblestone Terrace Cafe for everyone to enjoy! Root beer floats, sundaes and cones are some of the favorites enjoyed in this area with a great view of the garden!
