The Lake Mills Nursing Home was built in the spring of 1966 and opened for residents in May 1966. It was started by a group of stockholders who saw a need in the Lake Mills community to serve their elderly population. The original building was licensed for 50 residents. ABCM Corporation purchased the facility in 1981 and the name changed to the Lake Mills Care Center. George Manolovich the "M" in ABCM was the architect for the original nursing home in 1966. The Lake Mills Care Center is a skilled nursing facility certified in Medicare and Medicaid, licensed for 78 beds.

| Lake Mills Care Center is under the Person Directed Care philosophy. This is a concept which accommodates the lifestyles of those who live here. Our residents are now referred to as neighbors. This is their home, so like their home, individuals decide when to wake up, when to go to bed, when to eat, and when to take a shower. Consistent staffing is another aspect of the Person Directed Care philosophy. This means our neighbors are cared for by the same staff 85 percent of the time. This builds relationships and gives a greater sense of closeness and trust. |

What's New
Two additions to the Lake Mills Care Center occurred in 1999 and 2007. First, the Lake Mills Therapy Center opened in the lower level of the care center. The therapy center provides neighbors (residents) and members of the community access to occupational, physical, and speech therapists. Our professional therapy team works with you and your physician to meet your health care needs, right here in the comfort and accessibility of your own community.
